Where are you going to sleep?

  • Tent
  • Tarpaulin (tarp) to put under your tent
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Pillow
  • Padding (air mattress and pump w/power supply)
  • Sleep wear

What are you going to wear?

Look at the weather forecast for the location you will be camping and choose the appropriate weight of clothing, but be prepared for extremely cold or extremely hot weather.

  • Clothes for each day (including socks, underwear & outerwear)
  • Extra change of clothes in case of accidents
  • Appropriate Shoes
  • Special shoes for activities (hiking, boat shoes, wet shoes)
  • Special clothes for activities (swim suit, robe)
  • Jacket or sweater (in case the evenings or mornings get cold)

Are there showers?

  • Quarters to feed the showers.
  • Towels & washcloth
  • Shampoo
  • Soap
  • Personal care products. Please leave your perfume/cologne at home

Food storage

Store your food in spill proof, water proof containers. Be sure to store any bread products in your ice chest to avoid condensation and mold. You can freeze a pre-cooked meal and as it defrosts it will help keep the rest of the food cold.

  • Ice chest with ice
  • Plastic containers or sealable plastic bags to keep out the critters
  • Food & Liquids
  • Breakfast food
  • Lunch food
  • Dinner food
  • Condiments
  • Snacks/munchies
  • Beverages
  • At least one gallon of purified water for drinking and cooking per day

Cooking

  • Camp stove
  • Propane
  • Lighter or matches
  • Pots (including tea pot for water)

  • Cooking utensils
  • Plates
  • Bowls
  • Cups (for hot and cold liquids - plastic is preferable to glass)
  • Eating utensils

Clean-up

  • Scrub pad
  • Dish Soap
  • Container to hold soapy water
  • Towel to dry dishes

Entertainment

  • Books
  • Board games
  • Cards
  • Instruments (drums, shakers, etc.)

Misc.

  • A folding chair
  • A flashlight
  • A shovel
  • A propane lantern with spare mantles
  • Rescue fly traps
  • Paper towels & napkins
  • First aid kit. At least bandages & an antibiotic ointment
  • Sun tan lotion
  • Insect repellent
  • Lots of fire wood, kindling & newspaper
  • Cash for your share of the site cost, ice runs and misc.
  • Feminine hygiene products

Some of the above may be available to share. But don't assume that someone else will remember to bring something or that they will make it assessable for you to use.
